Alterations

Made to fit you,
not the other way round.

Bring me the thing that nearly works. Book a 30-minute appointment, we’ll pin it properly, and you’ll get it back wearable.

Commonly asked for

What I take in

  • Hemming trousers, skirts and dresses
  • Taking in or letting out side seams and waistbands
  • Sleeve shortening, including shirt cuffs
  • Replacing zips and fastenings
  • Strap and shoulder adjustments
  • Repairs — tears, seams, linings, buttons

Not sure whether something can be saved? Send a photo to speedybstitchery@gmail.com and I’ll tell you honestly.

  1. Book a slot

Pick a 30-minute appointment that suits you. One garment per slot is a good rule of thumb.

  2. Bring the shoes

For anything with a hem, bring the shoes you’ll wear it with. It changes the length more than you’d think.

  3. Fit, pin, sew

We pin it on you at the appointment, I confirm the price before starting, and let you know the moment it’s ready.

Good to know

A few common questions.

How much will it cost?
The price list PDF covers the usual jobs. Anything unusual I’ll quote at the appointment, before any sewing starts — you’ll never get a surprise.
How long does it take?
It depends on what else is in the queue. I’ll give you a realistic date when you drop the garment off, and let you know as soon as it’s finished.
Can you alter something I didn’t buy new?
Absolutely — charity shop finds, hand-me-downs and things that have been sitting in the wardrobe for years are some of my favourite jobs.
Do you do bridal or formalwear?
Email me with photos and your date before booking, and I’ll let you know whether I can do it justice in the time available.
